What topics are covered in the docuseries?

  • Love. The first chapter of Babies  talks about the biology of the affective bond that is created between mothers and children and fathers and children. Several scientists reveal to us how the type of parenting, the interaction with the baby or the simple fact of having a child, changes the parents physically and mentally. Likewise, they also describe the changes that occur in newborns.
  • The first meals. What nutrients do babies need for their proper development? How does breast milk affect the little one? The answers to these questions can be found in the second chapter of the docuseries, which focuses on the importance of the type of diet in the child’s first months of life.
  • Learning to crawl. In Babies we will also learn about the psychomotor development of the baby, from crawling to the first steps. In this chapter, three researchers show us that crawling is much more than a transition period.
  • The first words. They also discover how babies decode the sounds they hear in their environment to develop speech and language.
  • Sleep. This is one of the issues that most concerns and interests mothers and fathers of newborns. In this fifth chapter they describe, through various studies, what happens while the little ones sleep.

  • First steps. The last chapter is about how babies learn to walk. Several researchers reveal what role neonatal reflexes and skeletal development play in the first steps of the child.
